Where:The roof of the school, it is just before midnight and the night is chilly but clear. Who: Adults preferably. Summary:Anna ponders her ability to break away from her parents and the idea that women shouldn't work. She sits looking out at the stars when she hears another person on the roof. General Plot:(What story do you wish to impart?): The coldness and unfeeling emotions that Anna presents to the outside world and how many people think she is evil.
The black of night was silent. There were no footsteps and the chatter of students had long since disappeared. Throughout the school people slept, readying themselves for the long day tommorow. All but one that was. The divination professor Anna Dawn sat on the roof of the school deep in thought. Her violet eyes scanneed out over the stars, but her mind for once did not ponder what the stars meant. INstead her thoughts turned to herself, how she had broken away from the mould of the 1800's. Women shouldn't work - she had broken that rule, and now this was the price she paid. Long endless nights sitting by herself, tears sometimes fell for her dead parents. But not often, she hadn't cared for them all that much in life, let alone in death.
The silvery light bounced off Anna's pale milky skin. Her long blonde hair although typical in length for the time was also very pale, almost tp the extent of being white. Her robes were as black as the night, making her fair skin seem even paler, but they were fashoinably gathered, one thing that made Anna look atleast slightly normal.
Anna knew something big was going to start to happen soon, there was somthing in the air. Her instruments had been going crazy, but she had no idea what it was so that was the end of that one. She hadn't disccused the feeling of dismay with anyone not even with her closest friends. Her only friends. And as she let ehr eyes scan out over the stars she knew she never would tell them. It wasn't worth it, because she knew atleast some of what was going on any way.
There was something very cold about the women who sat on the roof, her face emotionless, her eyes blank. She had built up a barrier from the world that few people could see through, and she liked it that way. She liked knowing that only she knew how she really felt and how she couldn't get hurt that way. Her friends although only few knew her better then anyone else, but sometimes she couldn't help thinking that was a mistake. Knownig that at least Nikolas if they ever argued over anything would be quick to use it against her. She wasn't so sure about Clemenceau, although she wouldn't have betted against it.
It was soon after midnight when Anna heard another persons presence on the roof top. SHe had been there prehaps a couple of hours. That didn't mean she was lonley though, it just depended on who the person was to wether she wanted there company or not.

Nadine. Nadine Thorne. Nadine Thorne Vogel.
Nadine pushed the names out of her mind. Her life had been perfect till she married the wretched man. He was everything that a husband should have been. Gentle, chivalrous, and charming. He even respected her personal space, though sometimes it drove Nadine mad with envy. She was not completely loyal to her husband, but still, it irked her that she wasnt the only woman in his life. She was more than twenty years younger than Nikolas, but age never bothered her. Their marriage, like most marriages, was arranged. What bothered her was that he did not yearn for her. What bothered her was that he did not even try to want time with her.
So what if she was having an affair? She was Nadine Thorne, the most desirable woman in all England--in all Europe even, and yet her husband treated her as if she had little value. Her lover, he knew to cherish her. He knew how lucky he was to have her love him. But not her husband. He knew very little.
She fixed her eyes on Anna as she walked up the stairs, her long dark hair set up in a fashionable cameo. She wore a coat to complement her looks, rather than to keep her warm.
She waited till she was sure that there was no one in the rooftop along with them before she approached Anna. "Miss Dawn?" she inquired, her voice crisp yet delicate. She was a pureblood, yet she did not go to any ordinary wizarding school. The wizarding school she went to was more of a finishing school, and only very few attended it. After all, only very few came from the money that her family possessed.
"I will not play games now," she said, breaking the silent of the night, "Nor will I beat around the bush. I want to know if you are having an affair with my husband." she said, arching an eyebrow.
She had often seen Anna with Nikolas, and the time they spent together bothered her. She had often wondered if they were intimate. She had already asked Nikolas the question, and he did not outrightly deny it. She knew it was no use arguing with Nikolas. He was too laid-back and fluid for that. She crossed her arms as she waited for Anna to answer her.

Anna let a slight smirk settle on her face before she turned her head slightly so she could see the women who accused her. Her violet eyes flitted over the women, Nadine, Nadine Vogel. So much like her husband, the man who Anna was fortunate enough to say was her friends. If not more at times. Or atleast in Anna's mind goodness only knew if Nikolas thought the same.
"I like the way you accuse me when the truth is right under your nose." The divination professor sneered slightly. She wasn't one to give simple awnsers, and she doubted she ever would be. But she wasn't going to let this woman, even if she was Nikolas' wife, see how jealous she was of the true object of Nadine's Husbands affections.
It was odd that Anna could be friends with both Nikolas and Clemenceau. The very fact that it was obvious atleast one of them had feelings for the other should have sent her running. But she stood her ground, knowing that with time she could sort out the rather sticky situation.
Letting her eyes drift back to Nadine Anna raised an eye brow before standing herself up. Leaning against one of the low walls at the edge of the roof she waited for a reply. It wasn't that she was trying to annoy Nadine, she just found the women's prediciment some one funny. Anna of course would be probably be the only one who thought that. Why not though. After al she was the cold hearted one according to so many people.

Nadine frowned at the woman's answer. What was with people and indirectness lately? Nikolas had the same indirectness. "I take it you are not too trusting of me." he had replied when she confronted him that morning over breakfast. Evasive. That's what they all were. Everyone around her.
She glared at Anna. "Truth?" she asked, trying to control the level of her voice, "What truth, Anna?" she asked. "I rarely find you from the side of my husband. His letters are all addressed to you. He spends his afternoons in meetings with you. What truth is there?" she asked, her voice breaking.
She turned her head away and swallowed, stopping herself from breaking down. She took a deep breath and looked back at Anna. "I want answers, Miss Dawn." she said in a calmer voice. "Answers that my husband would never give me." she said.
"I dont know what it is he does. I dont know what he plans. He wants no heir. It is not time, he says. He does want me." she said. "What kind of wife am I? His reasons for not wanting a child are unknown to me, but there is only one thing that can be. He loves someone else." she said softly. She brought her eyes directly to Anna's, "And you are the only woman that he spends most of his waking hours with, to my knowledge. Now tell me about this truth you speak of." she said, a slight challenge in her voice.

Anna tilted her head to one side slightly. She never knew that the women felt so strongly about it, infact she was sure that Nadine hated her husband. obviously not. The pale womens face was blank of all emotion, the only give away being her eyes which spakled and gleamed in the dim light of the moon. Listening as Nadine continued to speak Anna filled everything away to the back of her mind, almost ignoring the fact that the women was accusing her of having an affair with her husband. Which she sort of was, sort of.
In Anna's eyes, the gentle, king man had indeed flattered her, he told her everything. She was his confident and he hers. They were closse freinds, sometimes more Anna thought. But then he could also just be flattering her.
The divination professor never said anything out right, it just wasn't her style so she simply used her own ways instead. " Ans you think i can give you those answers?" The smirk on Anna's face stayed in place. "You honestly think i know why?" It was true Anna did spend lots of time with Nikolas, all of her spare time and his.
"Nadine." Anna's voice was softer then usual, without the sneery quality it normally held. NO one would be able to tell if she lied or not, infact like this she sounded more truthful then before. Even if she wasn't. "We are friends, thats it. Am i not allowed friends? Do you not trust Nikolas?"

"Would you trust someone you hate so much?" she asked quietly. She wet her lips and walked toward the side of the rooftop. She flicked her wand and conjured a bench for her to sit in. She was not accustomed to standing.
"Hate." she whispered, "Ironic, isn't it?" she asked. "How can you hate someone without feeling some sort of love toward that person first? You don't hate a stranger. You hate someone who was once dear to you." she said. "And he was dear to me, my Nikolas." she said quietly. "Though I never show it, though I betray him with every bone in my body, a part of me still loves him. I have to. It is my duty."
She looked at Anna. "My husband is a gallant man. But we are both unhappily married." she said, the cripsness creeping back in her voice. "It is no surprise. He is, after all, much older than I." she paused. "Perhaps it is pride that makes me refuse to accept my husband loving another but me. I grew up being the only one. There is no other in the world, I have always been told." She glanced at the grounds of the school. "Nikolas has never given me such reassurance."
She looked at Anna. "Why does he seek your company so? What can he possibly tell you that he cannot confide in me?" she asked. But inside she knew the answer. She never made time for Nikolas. She was always with her lover. But Nikolas didnt even care enough to inquire after her or who she was with. "Answer me directly, just this once, Miss Dawn--Anna." she said quietly. "I just need to know if he loves someone else, and if it is you, do tell me. It will matter little in the end, we both know that. I just need to know." she said, her voice trailing away.

Anna blinked slowly. She would tell the truth once. Just once. Whether Nadine believed her or not was her choice. "I know neither if he loves me, nor if he loves another." Her voice was as blank as always, no-one could make it past her barriers, no-one but Nikolas or Clemenceau. The two people she felt so close to, Nikolas in ways she knew she shouldn't, after all he was a married man. That didn't stop her feeling though.
The irony of the situation was funny to Anna, in her own sadistic way. Both women wondered why Nikolas didn't love them, Nadine maybe she didn't love him. Whilst Anna did, or atleast in her mind she did. Her heart, she didn't know. She hadn't felt for so long she didn't know what her heart felt.
The petie women turned to stare out over the grounds, looking at the darkness of the forbidden forest. Having grown up as a pureblood, Anna knew that she was just suposed to sit and look pretty. Anna wasn't going to sit and look pretty when she knew she was clever, as clever as any man. More then some. She wouldn't let men have control over her life, because if they did they would merely use her and walk away.
Atleast if she was in control she could walk away any time. Not that she would want to walk away from Nikolas. Nor from Clemenceau. Her friends. the only people she could ever and would ever trust.

"Then it's not you he loves." Nadine breathed quietly. Her eyes hardened as she looked toward the ground. "His heart is not with me." she said quietly. "It has never been, since we were married. But the changes in him..." her voice trailed away as she glanced back at Anna. "He has been ensnared by someone. And if you do not know if it's you, then it is not you." she said quietly.
But who was she to talk about how Nikolas felt, or who he loved? Nobody. She was just his pretty wife. On display. A mere figurine in his collection of beautiful things that he flaunted to the world.
She hated him. She hated how everyone loved him. How her parents had loved him more than her. "I leave the entirety of my estate to Nikolas Vogel." her father had stated in his will.
She did not care then, but now that men realised that she was married, they did not flock to her as they had done before. In reality, she was not the center of attention that she had led herself to believe she was.
Her lover was waiting for her at the moment. That much she knew, she stood up and walked toward Anna, reaching out to take the woman's hands into her delicate ones. "Forgive me for inconviniencing you, Miss Dawn. I trust you remain well. If you hear anything about my husband, do tell me." she said calmly. "Good evening." She smiled at the professor then walked out into the night, where she made way for her lover who was hiding in the hidden exit to Hogsmeade.
She kissed him lightly on the cheek, pushing Nikolas out of her mind and walked down the tunnel. Upon arriving in Hogsmeade, the lovers disapparated, and nothing more was heard from Nadine Vogel that night.

Anna's erie violet eyes watched Nadines exit from the roof tops. Only when she was sure that there was no one left to hear her Anna spoke again. Her voice was as calm and sedate as before, but there was a glimmer of something in her eyes, some thing that betrayed her own feelings toward the situation. "Then why do i wish that all this was the truth?" Her question was to herself. She knew that it would never be answered. That didn't stop her asking though did it.
Turning her back on the grounds Anna walked away from the roof of the school, leaving all thoughts she had of the situation there as well. Her footsteps were soft, and her clothes fell round her neatly. She was the perfect women in that way, the true give away was when she spoke. So was to icy to be a deccent mother or wife, she was to loud, to outspoken. No one would ever want to love her.
Maybe that was why she craved the love of some one so much. Or maybe it was just the fact that she wanted the power that would come with loving Nikolas. Whether she truly did or not was another question entirly.
